One of my favorite ideas for a baby shower invite is this one shaped like a baby diaper. There are many different versions of this idea out there, but I like this one because it's really easy, takes less than 2 sheets of 8.5x11 paper, and it turns out to be the perfect size to fit in an A2 envelope!
The first step is to choose your paper. I have chosen the American Crafts 8.5x11 textured cardstock because it has a canvas finish that reminds me of fabric.
Then, just cut out this template and trace it onto your 8.5x11 sheet:
Then cut it out:
Fold at the appropriate places and you will end up with your diaper shape:
All you need to do now is punch a couple of holes for the ribbon. Make sure to punch through both the front and side flaps together:
Then tie your ribbon through the holes and you have created your little diaper pocket.
For the insert I just printed my message on an 8.5x11 piece of paper arranged like so:
Since A2 is exactly 1/4 the size of an 8.5x11 sheet, you can fit 4 inserts on one sheet of paper. Cut the printed sheet into quarters, then use your finished diaper pocket to mark where to trim the corners:
Once you've cut off those corners, n trim about 1/8" off each of the sides of the card so it will easily slide into the pocket.
That's all you have to do! If you want to make your final project extra fancy, you can add a scalloped edge to your diaper like this:
You could also try using a different kind of embellishment (rather than ribbon)to fasten the diaper together, like a decorated safety pin or ??? It's such a basic design, you can really get creative to dress it up and personalize it for your special event.
Happy Crafting!

I,m not able to print the template (the website is no longer there, what are the dimensions?
ReplyDeleteHi,did you ever figure out the dimensions for the template? I would like to make these but the template is still unavailable!
DeleteI held my ruler to the computer and the paper measures 8.5x11 cm!!!! So i just measured and converted :) the template would have been nice, but at least the measurements were easy.
